وی آغاز ترجمه را در این دوره به دلیل حضور سفیرانی دانست كه به ایران سفر می‌كردند و با خود نامه‌هایی به همراه داشتند.

كیان فر توضیح داد: این نامه‌ها باید ترجمه می‌شدند و رفت‌وآمد به كشور نیاز به ترجمه را به وجود آورد. در این دوره ترجمه مكتوب هم وجود داشته كه برخی از آن‌ها در دست‌اند و نیز ده‌ها كتاب دیگر هم وجود داشته كه ترجمه شده اما منتقل نشده‌اند. در این زمینه باید ناگفته‌های دوره پیش از قاجار را بررسی كرد.

وی به كتاب‌هایی كه ترجمه و تالیف همزمان آن‌ها صورت گرفته اشاره كرد و افزود: برای مثال دو سفرنامه در ایران وجود دارد كه به رغم تالیفی بودند اما متون ترجمه‌شده زیادی در آن‌ها به كار رفته است. سفرنامه‌ میرزا صالح شیرازی و میرزا ابوالحسن‌خان ایلچی از این نمونه‌ها هستند.

كیان‌فر همچنین از سه دوره تاریخی نام برد و ویژگی‌های هر یك را برشمرد و افزود: نخستین كتاب‌ها توسط مترجمان فرنگی ترجمه می‌شد و حتما یك ادیب ایرانی، متن ترجمه شده را تحریر و پیرایش می‌كرد، به همین دلیل است كه نمی‌توان تخمین درستی درباره كیفیت توانایی ترجمه مترجمان زد. ترجمه‌ها در این دوره‌ها آزاد و وفاداری به متن مدنظر نبوده است.

این پژوهشگر به مقایسه ترجمه‌های دوره قاجار و سال‌های اخیر اشاره كرد و گفت: حدود پنجاه مترجم در دوره قاجار حضور داشتند كه آثار زیادی را ترجمه كردند و در مقایسه با امروز می‌توان گفت كه حداقل از لحاظ كمی بسیار بهتر و فعال‌تر از مترجمان دوره حاضر بودند.

كیان‌فر یكی از مشكلات مهم را برای تالیف آثار غنی و جامع، ضعف كار گروهی دانست و گفت: ما در كار فردی توفیقات بیشتری كسب كرده‌ایم. برای مثال طبری به تنهایی اثری عظیم خلق و آقابزرگ تهرانی نیز به خوبی كتابشناسی شیعه را تدوین كرده است. با این حال یكی از ویژگی‌های بارز این كتاب را تلاش گروهی برای تدوین آن دانست.

به گزارش ایرنا، ناجی نصرآباد نیز در این نشست گفت: در سال 1372 طرحی را شروع كردیم به نام فهرست كتاب‌های ترجمه شده به زبان فارسی، در ابتدا قصد داشتیم هر كتابی را كه ترجمه شده بیاوریم، اما در جست‌وجوی آن‌ها به ترجمه‌هایی برخوردیم كه هیچ‌گاه منتشر نشده اند.

در این نامه‌ها به این اشاره شده که بن لادن نسبت به دور شدن مسلمانان از ایدئولوژی جهاد، نگران بود و در نامه‌ای به تاریخ سال ۲۰۱۰، نوشت: "باید دور تازه‌ای برای تصحیح اشتباهاتی که مرتکب شده‌ایم، آغاز شود."

او نوشت: "با این کار و با کمک خدا، اطمینان بخش بزرگی از افرادی که اعتمادشان را به ما از دست داده‌اند، باز به دست خواهیم آورد."

فرانک گاردنر، خبرنگار امور امنیتی بی بی سی می‌گوید این اسناد و مدارک را باید در چارچوب خاص خود مورد مطالعه قرار داد.

او می‌گوید آمریکا می‌خواهد بن لادن را نیرویی شکست خورده و ناکام در عوض نیرویی که نباید آن را انکار کرد، معرفی کند.

فرانک گاردنر می‌افزاید که باید به یاد داشت که رهبر القاعده کماکان برای بسیاری یک چهره نمادین به شمار می‌رود، چون برای مدتهای طولانی توانست از دست آمریکایی‌ها بگریزد.

مدارک منتشر شده از سپتامبر ۲۰۰۶ تا آوریل ۲۰۱۱ را در بر می‌گیرند و شامل نامه‌هایی از سایر سران القاعده نیز هست.

برخی از این اسناد و مدارک، حاکی از رابطه متشنج القاعده و ایران است.

برخی نامه‌های به دست آمده از محل سکونت رهبر القاعده نشان می‌دهد که این گروه از نحوه آزادی بازداشتی‌های این گروه، منجمله خانواده بن لادن توسط ایران عصبانی بوده و ناراحتی و تکدر خود را از این مساله که "ایرانی‌ها نمی‌خواهند نشان دهند که در حال مذاکره با ما یا پاسخ به فشارهای وارده از جانب ما هستند"، ابراز کرده بود.

اسناد منتشر شده، همچنین نشان‌دهنده حمایت دولت و یا ارتش پاکستان از بن لادن نیست. در این نامه‌ها به "برادران مورد وثوق پاکستانی" اشاره شده اما طبق این نامه‌ها، بن لادن نسبت به سازمان اطلاعات پاکستان نگران بوده است.

او به اعضای خانواده خود که به پاکستان سفر می‌کردند، گفته بود که مطمئن شوند که هیچ فردی آنها را تعقیب نمی‌کند.

این برای آن بود که او اطمینان خاطر حاصل کند روسای محلی سازمان‌های اطلاعاتی برای ردگیری او، آنها را دنبال نمی‌کنند.

توصیه مشاور

آدم یحیی غدن، مشاور متولد کالیفرنیای اسامه بن لادن به او توصیه کرده بود که از گروه القاعده عراق به دلیل ناکامی‌های آن فاصله بگیرد.

زیردستان او در مقطعی تهدید کردند که علیه رهبری طالبان پاکستان دست به اقداماتی بزنند. دلیل این کار، " اشتباهات شرم‌آور" آنها از جمله حملات بی‌هدف و کورکورانه آنها علیه مسلمانان بود.

بن لادن نامه شدیداللحنی به القاعده در شبه جزیره عربستان نوشت و از آنها خواست تا حملات خود را به عوض دولت یمن یا نیروهای امنیتی، متوجه آمریکا کنند.

رهبر القاعده بر این باور بود که این شبکه، نفع اندکی از همپیمانی با گروه افراطی شباب در سومالی می‌برد که به نظر او، از نظر سازمان‌دهی در وضعیت خوبی نبود.

برخی دیگر از این اسناد و مدارک نشان می‌دهد که او به پیکارجویان تحت کنترل خود دستور داده بود تا فرصت‌های مناسب برای ترور باراک اوباما، رئیس جمهوری آمریکا از طریق هدف قرار دادن هواپیمایش و ژنرال دیوید پترئوس را در حین دیدارهایشان از پاکستان و افغانستان بررسی کنند.

او در این مدارک هشدار داده که جو بایدن، معاون رئیس جمهوری آمریکا را هدف قرار ندهند، چون "بایدن برای سمت ریاست جمهوری آماده نیست و این، آمریکا را به سوی یک بحران هدایت می‌کند."

در نامه‌ای به تاریخ آوریل ۲۰۱۱، اسامه بن لادن در مورد بهار عربی بحث کرده و آن را "رویدادی سهمگین" برای مسلمانان خوانده و ابراز امیدواری کرده بود که آنها از طریق رسانه‌ها و راهنمایی‌ها، بتوانند بر سیل اتفاقات اثر بگذارند.

نامه‌های رد و بدل شده رهبران القاعده نشان می‌دهد که حلقه درونی و نزدیک بن لادن به دقت رسانه‌های آمریکایی را مطالعه می‌کردند.
